Honey, God Shrunk My Problems

Faith has the amazing ability to shrink our problems. True faith does not deny the existence of a problem but can change how we view it. It may look like a mountain to everyone else but if you see through faith a mountain can turn into a molehill in a nanosecond.

I remember one experience I had with this many years ago. I had a very difficult day at work. I will spare you the details but it bothered me to the point my stomach was in knots. Felt like I was getting an ulcer. I went home laid down but just could not shake it. The problem just looked to big and I was overwhelmed with anxiety. All I could see was this mountain in front of me that looked impossible to move. It was a real problem just like countless millions face everyday. Some try to medicate these problems, others turn to alcohol, drugs or various kinds of sin trying to escape the pressures of life. But those things never work and ultimately lead to larger problems.

However, that night I went to church. I still had knots in my stomach but I was determined to pray and worship. As God began to move close to me the most amazing thing happened. My problems began to shrink. The closer He came the smaller they looked.

God gave me a vision of tiny little creatures running around bumping into each other. It was really comical to the point I could not help but laugh. They could really do no harm to me. They were just so small and insignificant about the size of ants. I was now seeing what God saw and He was not worried at all. His enemies are nothing more than a footstool for His feet. He laughs at them because everything they try is ultimately futile. They will fail and have already been defeated at the cross.

“and throw off their fetters.”
4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.

Before the service was out the knots were gone. My circumstance had not changed in that moment but I was way above it in the realm of faith. Even though the situation at work did not immediately change I was no longer bothered. God did take care of it later and actually changed the situation but before that ever happened I was in perfect peace.

Faith is such an amazing gift. No matter what we face we can go to God’s word, begin to seek God and watch our problems shrink.
